Devotion 1 of 2: Jer 38
In this chapter Jeremiah warns the people of Jerusalem that they will die if they remain in the city but will live if they go over to the Chaldeans (Babylonians) (v.2). He also prophesied that Jerusalem would fall to Babylon (v.3). As a result, the princes of the land got angry and threw him into a dungeon, full of mud (v.6).
Jeremiah is an example of the LDC, warning believers that we will face AC. The reason is because God will use AC to change the church from being lukewarm to being either hot or cold—either take a stand for Christ at the risk of being martyred or fall away and worship AC to save one’s own life!
But we will also be persecuted for our stand, and Jeremiah is the example of the LDC under persecution. Let’s pray that, like Jeremiah, we will stand firm and not compromise our faith in Jesus our Lord!

この章でエレミヤはエルサレムの人々に、町に留まれば死ぬが、カルデヤ人（バビロニア人）の所に行けば生き残ると警告しています（2節）。また、エルサレムがバビロンに陥落すると預言しています（3節）。その結果、首長たちは怒り、エレミヤを泥だらけの穴に投げ込みました（6節）。
エレミヤは終末教会の模範であり、信者たちが反キに直面すると警告しています。その理由は、神が反キを用いて、教会を生ぬるい状態から、熱い状態か冷たい状態に変えようとするからです。殉教する危険を冒してキリストのために立ち上がるか、背を向けて反キを崇拝し、自分の命を救うかのどちらかです。
しかし、私たちは立場のせいで迫害されることもあり、エレミヤは迫害を受ける終末教会の例です。エレミヤのように、私たちがしっかりと立ち、主イエスへの信仰を妥協しないように祈りましょう！
Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 10
This is the middle chapter of the 3 chapters that emphasize 1) God’s sovereignty, 2) man’s free choice, and once more, 3) God’s sovereignty. God’s sovereignty emphasizes it’s God who chooses who will be saved. But man’s free choice emphasizes that the person who decides to believe is the one who gets saved.
V.13 represents the Scriptures that teach man’s free choice: ‘For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” ’ I think man’s free choice Scriptures fit in well with evangelism, whereas God’s sovereignty Scriptures fit in with theological studies.
I think there are Scriptures that support both God’s election and man’s free will. They’re both true. But their purpose and function are different. Let’s learn to accept both and know how and where to apply each.

これは、1) 神の主権、2) 人間の自由選択、そしてもう一度、3) 神の主権を強調する 3 つの章の真ん中の章です。神の主権は、誰が救われるかを選ぶのは神であることを強調します。しかし、人間の自由選択は、信じることを決めた人が救われることを強調します。
13 節は、人間の自由選択を教える御言葉を表しています。「主の御名を呼び求める者は、だれでも救われる」のです。人間の自由選択の御言葉は伝道によく合うと思いますが、神の主権の御言葉は神学研究に合うと思います。
神の選びと人間の自由意志の両方を支持する聖句があると思います。どちらも真実です。しかし、その目的と機能は異なります。両方を受け入れ、それぞれをどのように、どこに適用するかを学びましょう。
