Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 147

The last 5 psalms (Psalm 146-150) are known as the “Hallelujah Psalms” because they begin and end with “Hallelujah!” which is translated, “Praise the Lord!” Psalm 147 praises God for the wonders of nature, which the Creator God has designed!
V.4 says, “He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.” Man’s awareness of the size of the universe has increased exponentially as the telescopes by which we study the stars have advanced over the past few decades.
Through the Hubble Space Telescope, which was set in orbit 600km above the earth in 1990, scientists have estimated there are about 100B stars in our Milky Way galaxy and there may be about 2T galaxies in the known universe. This means the number of stars is about 200 billion trillion, and God has a name for each one! What an awesome Creator God is He!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 148

V.7 says, “Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all the depths.” How can animals praise God? One way is through the way they live. When our behavior exhibits kindness, I believe it reflects the love of the Creator, and can be a praise to Him!
I read of some ocean life scientists who discovered a baby blue whale swimming alone at sea, crying desperately for its mother. Then they noticed some orcas who approached and then began to attack the baby whale to kill and eat it!
But suddenly a group of humpback whales noticed the commotion and approached. Although the baby whale was a different kind, they chased the orcas away! Then one of the humpback whales escorted the baby blue whale and found a group of blue whales which adopted the baby and took it away with them!
I think those humpback whales praised God through their act of kindness! PTL!

PTL!
