Devotion 1 of 1: Ps 75
In this psalm, I believe God is speaking through Asaph in v.2-5. I believe these words can be applied to the judgment of God during the tribulation because of v.2-3a, “When I choose the proper time, I will judge uprightly. The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved…”
Another reason this psalm can be applied to the tribulation judgment of God is found in v.7-8, “But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another. For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is fully mixed, and He pours it out; surely its dregs shall all the wicked of the earth drain and drink down.”
In the endtime Battle of Armageddon, Jesus will appear as a judge to save Israel and punish AC’s army. Rev 14:14-20 describe the battle as reaping grapes during harvest time, throwing them into the great winepress of the wrath of God, and trampling the grapes to produce wine, which flows out of the winepress as blood. Christ will destroy AC’s army, and their blood will flow for many kilometers.
Let us pray that many Jews will cry out to Messiah and be saved from destruction by AC through Jesus’ 2nd coming!
1 PET 3: Free sharing!
In this chapter, Peter continues his teaching on suffering for righteousness’ sake. He writes in v.8b-9, “…be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.”
Once more, like in the previous chapter, we are called, not to return evil for evil, but to bless instead! Many years ago, somewhere in Japan, a brother in the church and I teamed up against an American duo to play tennis. At first, the American pair laughed and mocked all of our misses and talked loudly, trying to put us down. I realized right away that that was the American way of playing sports—to mock the opponent and try to rattle their nerves!
But in Japan we play tennis differently. When our opponent makes a good shot, we praise him and say that was a nice shot! As my partner and I continued talking this way, gradually our opponents began to change their speech, and instead of belittling us for our mistakes, they began praising our good shots, like we were doing to them!
Yesterday, I wrote about Caitlin Clark. The WNBA athletes opposing her were playing the American style—mocking her, putting her down, and trying to exert superiority over her. American politics also is run the same way—lots of criticism, belittling, name calling, and vicious, derogatory mockery! At a U.S. political rally yesterday, some speeches called their political opponent “Anti-Christ” and “Satan,” and called Puerto Rico an “island of garbage floating in the ocean.”
The U.S. needs a revival of repentance and a return to God. If a society continues the path described above, it will surely deteriorate and lose respect and authority in international affairs.
Let’s learn the Bible lifestyle. Let’s seek to grow in purity, humility and character. Let’s grow to be more like Jesus!
