Devotion 1 of 1: Ps 67
V.1-2 share a wonderful message to us! When God is merciful and blesses us and causes His face to shine upon us, our life will be a testimony to the world and lead people to salvation because they will want what they see in us! Lord, use us in this way to bring many to salvation!
2 TIM 2: Free sharing!
In v.5, it says, “If anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.” One of the biggest rule-breaking temptations of the modern era in sports is using drugs to build strength, speed or stamina. Many athletes used drugs before it was outlawed for causing harmful effects. And despite drugs being made illegal, some athletes still use it to become better at their sport.
But if they are caught, the consequences can be severe. One recent drug violation case was that of the Russian woman ice figure skater Kamila Valieva, only 15 at the time. She competed in the ice figure team event at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, in which Russia took the gold, USA the silver and Japan the bronze. But it was found out that she had had a drug violation which should have disqualified her from competing. When her score was subtracted, Russia fell to bronze, and the USA and Japan moved up one place each to gold and silver.
While most of us might not qualify for the Olympics, all of us are taking part in the battle of life. And the consequences are much greater than the Olympics; the consequences determine our eternal destiny.
In one sense, the rules are simple. God loves us and has prepared heaven for us. But sin disqualifies us from entering heaven. However, God has prepared a way for us to enter by providing the gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus, suffering on the cross in our place! But if we reject this gift of love, we will face an eternity separated from God.
Let’s follow these rules and believe in and follow after Jesus with all of our heart! And let’s share this good news with AMPAP (As Many People As Possible) so they can win in the battle of life, too!
