Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 53
V.1 says the fool has said in his heart that there is no God. There are many atheists in the world today who think the advances of science and evolution have proven that God doesn’t exist.
So how can we believers show them evidence that God is real? I think v.6 gives us a good answer! It says God will bring back the captivity of Israel. This is a prophecy made in about 1000BC that was fulfilled in 538BC when the Jews returned from the Babylonian Captivity.
But it was also fulfilled in 1948, when the Jews returned from their “captivity,” or diaspora, which began in 70AD, when Rome crushed their rebellion and sold them as slaves throughout the empire.
Never before in history had a nation that was extinguished for almost 2,000 years, return and establish itself again! This was truly a miraculous event which was prophesied in the Bible many times 2,000 – 4,000 years ago! Only God can predict the future with such precise accuracy! And it looked impossible, but against all odds, it came to pass!
I think this is very strong evidence to the searching heart that God does indeed exist, and that God is the God of the Christian Bible! Let’s share this with anyone willing to listen!

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Cor 9
Paul writes important truths in the chapter, but I want to focus on the last verses, 24-27, about running in a race and receiving a prize! Paul is describing the Christian life, disciplining oneself and fighting against evil so that we don’t become disqualified in the end!
The Paris Olympics will begin next week! Thousands of athletes from countries across the globe will compete against each other for the prize of a gold medal! Sadly, there have been athletes who won gold medals, but later on were found to have cheated, and so were disqualified and forced to give up their medals. Let’s run our race by disciplining ourselves according to the rules set by God in his Word so that we don’t become disqualified! Amen! Go, Olympians, do your best for God and country!
