Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 2
Because King Sihon of Heshbon would not let Israel pass through his land nor sell food to them, God allowed Israel to go to war against them, defeat them, kill all their men and women and even children and take over their land (v.26-36). War was very cruel in Bible days. This kind of genocide would cause an international outcry in today’s world, but in OT times, it was normal, in order to eliminate retaliation from future generations of the enemy.
Because Islam began in the ME in the 7th century, it was very similar to OT thinking. That’s why radical Islam, which tries to obey Mohammad without compromise, believes it’s okay to kill non-Muslims. Thank God for sending Jesus, who changed the OT law into NT grace and taught, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you!” (Matt 5:43-48). Let’s pray for Muslims to discover that Jesus is the Son of God and Savior of the world!

Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 2
MARK 2: Answers! (2/2)
1) The Pharisees always judged people. First, they judged Jesus for eating with tax collectors and sinners (v.16). Then they judged him and his disciples for not fasting (v.18).
2) We must not judge people but love, accept, forgive and help them to experience God and follow Jesus!
