Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 45
One of the most amazing Scriptures that reveal Christ’s divinity is v.6-7: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.
How do we know that these verses refer to Jesus? Because Heb 1:8 says that the Father was speaking these words to the Son! So when someone says, “How do you know Jesus is God?” let’s point out Ps 46:6-7 and Heb 1:8-9!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 46
V.1-3 apply to us in times of disaster, like the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster of 2011. It was the largest earthquake recorded in Japan’s history. Over 18,000 people died in it.
Our church sent over 30 relief teams and heard many stories of narrow escapes. One pastor, whose church building was completely destroyed, told us that he went to the seashore after the quake. He saw the waterline had receded and, sensing danger, he ran back to his house, gathered his family and some belongings, and drove for higher ground. He made it in time to escape the tsunami.
So God helped the pastor to make the right decision. Another lesson for us is that knowledge is also helpful. The pastor knew that a receding waterline was a sign of danger. Let’s also remember that so we won’t be too late to make our escape in case of a giant earthquake in Tokyo.
