Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 15
This psalm describes some qualifications of abiding in God’s tabernacle, which, at that time, was the Tabernacle of David. This psalm applies directly to us because we want to be the restored Tabernacle David Church. One qualification I want to point out is v.4b, “He who swears to his own hurt and does not change.”
An illustration of this was a brother in the church who signed a contract to rent a car. But couple of days before he used the car, someone offered to loan him a car for free. He could have canceled the contract and saved some money, but he didn’t! I asked him why, and he replied, “Because I signed a contract, and I don’t want to go back on my word.” I also want to be able to keep my promises, even if it’s to my hurt.

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 16
In his message on the Day of Pentecost, Peter applied v.10, “For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption,” to Jesus’s death in Acts 2:27.
Through Peter’s interpretation we realize what Jesus went through to pay the penalty for our sins. His body went to the grave; His spirit went to the Father when he breathed his last; and his soul went to Hades, I believe, to receive the punishment for all of mankind’s sins in our place! Only because Jesus did that were we released from going to hell! How much he must have suffered for us!
We want to spend all eternity to thank him for his boundless love! Thank you, Jesus!
