Devotion 1 of 2: Job 11

Job’s 3rd friend, Zophar, speaks in this chapter. He is quite blunt and judgmental. He says about Job that his talk is empty (v.3) and God is punishing him less than what his sins deserve (v.6b). He also insinuates that Job is deceitful and wicked (v.11) and empty-headed (v.12)! So Zophar is not the kind of counselor we want to be. Let’s seek God to help us understand the needs of people going through hardships so that when we talk with them, we can encourage them rather than push them down!

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 11

(2/2)
In v.20-24, Jesus rebuked 3 cities, Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum, because he did mighty works in them, but they didn’t repent and believe in him. It will be the same in the last day revival. Some cities or people will not repent and believe, even though the LDC does mighty miracles before them. But Jesus also said if the wicked cities of Tyre, Sidon and Sodom had seen those miracles, they would have repented! So the lesson here is we don’t know who will believe, so let’s preach the gospel and do Jesus’ works for as many people and cities as possible and give everyone a chance to come to Jesus!
