Devotion 1 of 2: Gen 44

(2/2)
One of the reasons Joseph became ruler over his brothers was to root out disunity and hatred from them and lead them into unity and agape love! Upon Judah’s suggestion, his brothers sold Joseph into slavery (Gen 37:26-28) because they were jealous that their father loved him more than them (Gen 37:4)! But when Joseph threatened to make Benjamin his slave (Gen 44:17), Judah stepped up and offered to become a slave in Benjamin’s place (Gen 44:33). By doing this, Judah atoned for his sin of making Joseph a slave! When Joseph saw this, he finally revealed himself to his brothers (Gen 45:3)! We are called to be the Joseph Church of the endtime! Let’s fulfill our calling to become rulers and accomplish our mission to lead the church into unity and agape love!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gen 43

About OT customs, v.32 says “…the Egyptians could not eat food with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians.” The Jews also had a similar custom of not associating with Gentiles (Acts 10:28). It was probably true that many ethnic groups didn’t eat with other groups during Bible days. One reason for that was differences in dietary laws; for example, Jews couldn’t eat pork but other groups could. Let’s study Bible customs to help us understand the Scriptures more.
