Devotion 1 of 1: Gen 23
After Sarah died (v.2), Abraham bought Ephron’s land as a burial site for 400 shekels (v.14-20), even though Ephron offered it for free (v.10-11). This shows a model of respecting the dead by building a proper grave site.
GEN 24 answers:
1) Rebekah, who was chosen to be Isaac’s bride, was beautiful, a virgin and from the same family as Abraham (v.15-16). The church who will become Christ’s bride is beautiful in character, purified by the blood of Jesus, and not an unbeliever, but a believer and part of God’s family!
2) Rebekah had an attitude of serving. When the servant asked her for a drink of water, she quickly served him and then also gave water to all of his 10 camels without even being asked (v.17-20)! A thirsty camel can drink about 190 L of water!
