Devotion 1 of 3: Jer 40
Jer 40: In v.13-14, Johanan went to Gedaliah, governor of Judah, and warned him that Ishmael was sent to assassinate him, but Gedaliah didn’t believe him. Johanan even offered to save Gedaliah’s life by killing Ishmael, but Gedaliah refused, accusing Johanan of speaking falsely (v.15-16)! In 41:1-2, Johanan’s warning came true, and Gedaliah was killed by Ishmael! This shows the need for accurate discernment of true and false prophecies or advice! Let’s earnestly seek to grow so we can discern correctly.

Devotion 2 of 3: John 19
1) A) Jesus was flogged (v.1).
B) A crown of thorns was placed on his head (v.2).
C) He was struck by the soldiers (v.3).
D) He was nailed in his hands and feet to the cross (v.18).
2) Probably because his brothers and sisters still didn’t believe he was the Messiah.
3) It means that it was a holiday Sabbath and not a Saturday Sabbath. So Jesus didn’t die on a Friday as most of Christianity thinks, but either on a Wed or Thur. Both are possible, but each one has problems to overcome.

Devotion 3 of 3: Rom 12
Each Bible verse applies in some situations and not in others. For example, v.14-21 teach us to bless our persecutors; repay no one evil for evil; etc. Yes, we should strive to live this way in normal times. But the tribulation will not be normal times. Antichrist will persecute and kill Christians, and the Bible says that the 2 witnesses (LDC) will speak words of judgment (not forgiveness!) and consume those who try to harm them (Rev 11:5)! So we need wisdom to understand how to apply which Scripture in which situation.
