Devotion 1 of 2: Job 21

Job’s main complaint is that the wicked prosper in life (v.13) and are not punished (v.30). As a counselor, I would say to him that it’s true, some wicked people seem to prosper without any punishment, and it’s hard to endure that when you are suffering although you have not sinned. But, in fact, most wicked people suffer much in life, such as criminals who are caught and put in jail. And even if some wicked people don’t seem to receive punishment for their evil while alive, after they die, they will not be able to escape judgment for their sins because God will judge every person for everything we did (Rev. 20:12)!

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 21

Jesus meant that the temple, which also symbolizes the church and each believer, should live a life of prayer and worship, as 1 Thes. 5:16-18 says: “Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks.” He said the merchants had made it a “den of robbers” because they were taking advantage of the people and cheating them by selling them animals for sacrifice at a much higher price than normal.
