Devotion 1 of 2: Acts 13

1) The 5 prophets and teachers at Antioch prayed and fasted and God spoke through prophecy to send Barnabas and Saul out for ministry, so they fasted, prayed, laid hands on them and sent them out (v.2-3).
2) He spoke words of judgment that the sorcerer would be blind, and he was (v.11)! The proconsul was astonished and believed in the gospel (v.12)!
3) Rev 11:5
4) They decided to evangelize the Gentiles, too (v.46), because the Jews opposed the gospel (v.45).

Devotion 2 of 2: Jer 13

God often uses illustrations to help us understand his word more clearly. This is why Jesus taught so much in parables. In the illustration of the linen sash (v.1-11), it is easy to understand that Israel and Judah could have received glory of being God’s linen sash (v.11), but because of worshiping other gods, they became dirty and unprofitable (v.10).
