Devotion 1 of 2: Acts 12
1) God’s ways are beyond our comprehension. Perhaps His reason was to show the church how serious a threat Herod was in order to drive them to prayer through James’ martyrdom (v.5) and then to show how He was greater than Herod and could answer the church’s prayers through miraculously delivering Peter (v.5-16).
2) No. Because sometimes faith is required for God to answer our prayers, but sometimes just asking, even without really believing, is enough for God to answer! Each case is different. His ways are beyond us!
3) The LDC will be persecuted by antichrist. He will arrest and imprison Christians. As we pray, God will work and miraculously deliver most of them! But, like James, some may be martyred, too!

Devotion 2 of 2: Jer 12
Although God allowed Judah to be desolated and taken captive by Babylon (v.11), He promised He would drive Babylon out of Judah also (v.14) and eventually restore the Jews to their land (v.15)! This is a restoration promise by God that applies to the Jews returning from Babylon in 538 BC and from their world-wide diaspora in 1948, and also spiritually to the church in 1517, and in the last days when their restoration will be completed at the beginning of the tribulation!
