Devotion 1 of 2: 2 Sam 5

1) David ruled over Judah for 7.5 years and over all Israel 33 years (v.5).
2) Because in v.6, the term “the blind and the lame will repel you” really means “even the weakest Jebusite will defeat David!” So that term meant the Jebusite enemy in this chapter. We also know David didn’t hate crippled people because he showed love and care to Mephibosheth, the crippled son of Jonathan (2 Sam 9:1-13).

Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Sam 6

1) Uzzah was struck down and died (v.7) because he touched the Ark (v.6) to prevent it from falling. But the real reason was because Israel was moving the Ark by setting it on a new cart (v.3) and not by having the Levites carry it with poles on their shoulders.
2) Michal became barren (v.23) because she criticized David. One spiritual lesson is that if the church is critical and judgmental, it will not produce spiritual children.
