Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 137
This is a truly sad psalm of Jews taken away as captives from Jerusalem to Babylon. A similar tragedy is happening now in Ukraine, with thousands of Ukrainians being taken captive to Russia by the Russian army. There are many war crimes of torture, rape, and murder being carried out on these captives. Although I don’t agree with what v.9 says about dashing the children of the enemy against rocks, I believe it expresses the anger felt by captives for the abuses they receive.
