Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Sam 15

1) Saul spared King Agag and the best of the animals instead of destroying them.
2) He thought he had obeyed God’s commandment (v.13) and blamed the people for sparing the animals and the excuse was to give them to the Lord as a sacrifice (v.15).
3) Because God wanted complete obedience more than sacrifice (v.18-19, 22).
4) Denominations and churches always try their best to obey God and do the right thing, but sometimes when they think they made the right decision, they don’t completely obey God.

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Sam 16

1) Because of his heart (v.7).
2) In 1 Sam 17:28, we see Eliab’s heart. He got angry at David, belittles him by saying he had only a few sheep, and unjustly accuses him of pride and insolence! This probably came from a jealous heart.
3) Because of Saul’s sins in chapters 11-15. Sin causes our protection against Satan to be lowered, and when it’s lowered enough, evil spirits can have easy access to us! Prov 25:28
4) Anointed praise can drive out evil spirits!
