4 purposes of speaking in tongues are: 1) You can speak to God (v.2). 2) You edify yourself (v.4). 3) If accompanied by interpretation of tongues, you can edify the church (v.5). 4) It can be a sign to unbelievers, for example, when the tongue is a language that the unbeliever understands (v.22)!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 58
I think v.1-2 can be applied to Vladimir Putin of Russia, especially in his actions toward Ukraine. He doesn’t speak justly and doesn’t judge the Ukrainian people with equity (v.1). Instead, he tells lies about them, calling them fascists and Nazis, which actually describe him more than Ukraine! In his heart He devises injustice and metes out violence against them (v.2) by bombing and destroying their cities using many missiles and rockets and killing their people, including children, women and old people.
