Two reasons that Paul gives for not marrying are because of the present crisis (v.26), which I believe was persecution, meaning that a husband might be killed for his faith, leaving his wife and children with no provider! And another reason was because a married person is concerned about this world’s affairs while a single person is concerned about the Lord’s affairs (v.32-33).
