Devotion 1 of 2: Num 21
In v.4-9, Israel grumbled again about the lack of food and water! Their murmuring was false because they were receiving miraculous manna every day! But rather than be thankful, they loathed their bread from heaven (v.5)!
As a result, fiery serpents bit and killed many (v.6)! God told Moses to make a bronze serpent and lift it on a pole for the people to see; those who did lived (v.8-9). Lessons: When we complain, we open the door for Satan to attack us! And we overcome our grumbling by looking at how Jesus forgave, not complained, on the cross!

Devotion 2 of 2: Num 22
Num 22-24 tell a riveting story of Israel, Moab, a king and a prophet. We can learn a thrilling story that reveals God’s nature to us! King Balak of Moab was afraid that Israel would destroy his nation like they did the Amorites (v.2-3). So, he decided to hire the prophet Balaam to curse Israel (v.5-6).
When Balaam contemplated Balak’s offer, 2 times God permits him to go but strictly commands him to only speak what God allows (v.7-35). This shows Balaam was an unstable prophet who needed strict control!
