Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 4

Israel was driven out of Canaan for their idolatry actually, not 2, but 3 times. The first was when the northern kingdom of Israel was taken captive by Assyria in 721 BC and never returned (2 Kings 17:6). The 2nd was when the southern kingdom of Judah was taken to Babylon as captives in 586 BC (2 Kings 25:11). After Persia defeated Babylon, the Jews returned in stages under their leaders Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:1-2), Ezra (Ezra 7:1) and Nehemiah (Neh. 2:9). The 3rd time was after they rejected Jesus as their Messiah. They were scattered throughout the Roman Empire as slaves in 70 AD and were dispersed for 1878 years, until returning and being reborn as a nation in 1948!

Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 4

The good soil produced fruit of 30-, 60- and 100-fold (v.20)! In restoration teaching, this represents the 3 main stages of spiritual growth: salvation, infilling of the Holy Spirit, and full maturity.
