Devotion 1 of 2: Job 3
In this chapter Job expresses his misery and wishes he had died upon birth (v.11). He is expressing an emotion that every person who has gone through much suffering and pain feels—it would be better to die than to continue living like this. In most cases, I believe we should overcome those feelings and pray for healing.
But there are cases in which I believe choosing to die is permissible. I have told my doctor that I don’t want extreme life extension procedures to be done on me if my brain is not functioning or the pain is too unbearable. Let’s seek God what we should do if we are suffering from excruciating pain.

Devotion 2 of 2: Job 4
In this chapter the first of Job’s 3 friends, Eliphaz, tries to counsel Job. In v.1-6, he reminds Job that once Job had instructed others who faced trials, but now it is Job who is in trouble. These are unkind words.
Then in v.7-11, Eliphaz states his basic viewpoint: If we have difficulties, it’s because God punishes those who sin. And finally, in v.12-21, he reveals the type of person he is: He is one who listens to voices, fears and spirits. There are many people today like him. They are conspiracy theorists. We must be careful about that way of thinking.
