Devotion 1 of 2: Song 5

The Beloved goes to visit the Shulamite at night, but she is already in bed, sleeping (v.1-2). She awakes when she realizes it’s her beloved, but hesitates because of the inconvenience of putting on her robe and having to wash her feet again (v.3). That hesitation is enough for her to miss her Beloved as he leaves because of her delay (v.6).
One spiritual lesson here is that we should respond as quickly as possible to Jesus’ voice. If we delay we can miss our opportunity to be with Him or be used by Him to meet people’s needs!
In Luke 19:41-44, Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they had missed the day of their visitation! Instead of getting saved and taking part in the new Christian Movement that changed world history, they remained in their Jewish traditions and were destroyed in the Roman invasion of Jerusalem in 70 AD!

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Tim 4

V.1 warns us: “The Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons…” One deceiving doctrine is the pre-trib rapture. Many Christian leaders say there is nothing that needs to be fulfilled before the rapture coming of Christ, so He can come at any time. This is a terribly wrong teaching!
Acts 3:19-21 teach that Jesus cannot return before restoration happens! God is restoring the church! It began with the Reformation in 1517 and continued with the Pentecostal Movement in 1906. But it is not completed yet!
The church will be fully restored in the endtime. Acts 15:16-17 says that God will restore the fallen Tabernacle of David (type of the church!) so that mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles! The church will be restored to bring about world revival and complete world missions! Then Jesus will return!
