Devotion 1 of 2: Prov 26
V.4 & 5 are interesting because they contradict each other: 4 “Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him.” 5 “Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.” So, which should we do? Answer, or do not answer a fool according to his folly?
I think the correct answer is: It depends on what “according to his folly” means. If it means “getting angry like the fool,” then you shouldn’t do it because you’ll become a fool like him. But if it means “showing him how foolish his thinking is,” then you should do it because he may recognize his mistake and change his ways.
The Bible is full of seemingly contradictory statements. But if we analyze them carefully, led by the Spirit, we will discover the gems of truth they contain and will grow spiritually through them.

4節と5節は互いに矛盾している点で興味深いです。4節「愚かな者には、その愚かさにしたがって答えるな。あなたも彼と同じようにならないためだ。」5節「愚かな者には、その愚かさにしたがって答えよ。そうすれば彼は、自分を知恵のある者と思わないだろう。」では、私たちはどちらをすべきでしょうか？愚か者の愚かさに応じて答えるべきでしょうか、それとも答えないべきでしょうか？
正しい答えは、「彼の愚かさに応じて」が何を意味するかによると思います。もし「愚か者のように怒る」という意味なら、そうすべきではありません。なぜなら、あなたも彼のように愚か者になってしまうからです。しかし、「彼の考えがいかに愚かであるかを示す」という意味なら、そうすべきです。なぜなら、彼は自分の間違いに気づき、生き方を変えるかもしれないからです。
聖書には、一見矛盾しているように見える記述が満ちています。しかし、聖霊に導かれて注意深く分析するなら、そこに隠された真理の宝石を発見し、それらを通して霊的に成長することができます。
Devotion 2 of 2: 1 John 2
In v.18-23, John describes the connection between the last hour and AC. Let’s learn 2 lessons about the last hour from this passage.
1) When the AC comes, we’ll know it’s the last hour, the 7 years of tribulation (v.18). Yes, this is true.
2) But John made a mistake. He saw many ac’s and thought that meant the AC was coming soon, and therefore his time was the last hour (v.18). But we know that wasn’t true. The AC did not appear in John’s time, and it was not the last hour. Little ac’s have appeared throughout church history, but the AC’s appearance is the true sign of the last hour.
Even the apostle John misunderstood the last hour! Let’s study the endtimes accurately so we will not make the same mistake!

18-23節で、ヨハネは終わりの時と反キのつながりについて述べています。この箇所から、終わりの時について2つの教訓を学びましょう。
1) 反キが来るとき、それが終わりの時、すなわち7年間の患難時代であることを知るでしょう（18節）。確かに、これは真実です。
2) しかし、ヨハネは間違いを犯しました。彼は多くの小さい反キを見て、それが本物の反キが間もなく来ることを意味し、したがって彼の時が終わりの時だと考えました（18節）。しかし、私たちはそれが真実ではないことを知っています。本物の反キはヨハネの時代には現れず、その時代は終わりの時ではありませんでした。教会の歴史を通して小さな反キは現れてきましたが、本物の反キの出現こそが、終わりの時の真のしるしなのです。
使徒ヨハネでさえ、終わりの時を誤解していました！同じ間違いをしないように、終末について正確に学びましょう！
