Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Chron 3
We find the family line of David in v.1-9. Seven wives, 19 sons and 1 daughter are listed. But David also had Michal as his 1st wife, making at least 8 wives, and an unknown number of concubines and their children.
Another interesting fact is that David was given King Saul’s house and wives (2 Sam 12:8)! But they were not given for him to marry, but rather to take care of, because Saul had died, and they were now widows. Through this, we can see how important it was to God for widows to be taken care of!
James 1:27 agrees, saying, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

1-9節にはダビデの家系が記されています。7人の妻、19人の息子、1人の娘が記録されています。しかし、ダビデには最初の妻としてミカルもいたので、少なくとも8人の妻がいました。さらに、そばめとその子供たちの数は不明です。
もう一つ興味深い事実は、ダビデがサウル王の家と妻たちを与えられたことです（2サム12:8）。しかし、それらは結婚するために与えられたのではなく、サウルが亡くなり、彼女たちが未亡人となったため、世話をするために与えられたのです。このことから、神にとって未亡人が世話をされることがいかに重要であったかが分かります。
ヤコブ書1:27は同意して、言っています。「父なる神の御前できよく汚れのない宗教は、孤児や、やもめたちが困っているときに世話をし、この世から自分をきよく守ることです。」
Devotion 2 of 2: Gal 3
In his debate against the Judaism Christians in the early church, Paul says some very strong words in v.10, ‘For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” ‘
Paul claims living by the law puts you under a curse! Why? Because 2:16b says, “…by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.” You cannot be saved by your works, by your trying to keep the law because you will fail; you will sin and break the law! This will happen over and over again throughout your life! It is a curse!
But there is good news! Jesus became cursed for us to redeem us from our curses and save us! Hallelujah! This is the gospel of grace that God revealed to Paul. Let’s thank God for this gospel and walk in grace, not law!

初代教会におけるユダヤ教クリスチャンとの論争の中で、パウロは10節で非常に強い言葉を述べています。『というのは、律法の行いによる人々はすべて、のろいのもとにあるからです。こう書いてあります。「律法の書に書いてある、すべてのことを堅く守って実行しなければ、だれでもみな、のろわれる。」』
パウロは、律法に従って生きることは呪いの下にあると主張します！なぜでしょうか？2章16節後半に「律法の行いによっては、だれも義とされない」とあるからです。あなたは自分の行いによって、律法を守ろうとすることによって救われることはありません。なぜなら、あなたは必ず失敗し、罪を犯し、律法を破るからです！これは生涯にわたって何度も繰り返されるでしょう！これは呪いです！
しかし、良い知らせがあります！イエスは私たちのために呪われ、私たちを呪いから贖い、救ってくださいました！ハレルヤ！これは神がパウロに明らかにされた恵みの福音です。この福音に感謝し、律法ではなく恵みのうちに歩みましょう！
