Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Chron 1

This chapter gives us the genealogy of the beginning of the human race. It is interesting that the family line of Japheth, the 3rd son of Noah, has many names of people groups that will take part in the Battle of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38-39; such as, Gomer, Magog, Tubal, Meshech, and Togarmah (v.5-6).
Who were these tribes and where were they from? We don’t know too much except that Ezek 38:6 says that Gomer and Togarmah are from the far north of Israel. When we look at a map, we see these countries north of Israel are likely candidates: Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Russia.
I believe the Battle of Magog and the Battle of Armageddon are the same battle, and the 4 above-mentioned countries will probably be involved in the battle. Let’s pray for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled and for God to save Israel!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gal 1

Paul writes this epistle to the Galatians in Asia Minor to keep them faithful to the gospel that he had taught them and not to a different gospel (v.6-7), which, we will learn later, was the gospel of keeping the law. Paul’s understanding of salvation was a major shift away from Judaism to the true meaning of grace.
Paul claimed that he received this understanding of salvation by grace through revelation from Jesus and not from men (v.11-12), because no one else understood the gospel of grace before he did. It seemed like soon after getting saved, instead of going to Jerusalem to learn from the apostles, Paul went to Arabia (v.15-17).
Paul says he went to Jerusalem only after 3 years and only saw Peter and James and not the other apostles (v.18-24). So, during this time, Paul received much revelation about the gospel of grace directly from God.
