Devotion 1 of 2: 2 Kings 11
It was dangerous to be born in line to the throne in Bible days because many heirs were assassinated by people wanting to usurp the throne. In this chapter the most dangerous moment in Judah’s history came when Athaliah, mother of King Ahaziah, upon seeing her son was dead, arose and eliminated all the royal heirs (v.1)!
She immediately took over the rulership of Judah for herself! But God was watching and eventually brought Athaliah’s murderous usurping of Judah’s throne to an end! Joash, a true son of the former King Ahaziah, was miraculously protected and was installed as the rightful king (v.2-12), and Athaliah was executed for her crimes (v.13-16).
Like Athaliah, Satan has usurped the throne given to man to rule the earth, but Christ has emerged as man’s Redeemer to vanquish Satan and restore man at His right hand to rule the earth for 1,000 years! PTL!

聖書時代、王位継承者として生まれることは危険なことでした。多くの後継者が王位簒奪を企む者たちに暗殺されたからです。この章では、ユダの歴史の中で最も危険な瞬間が訪れました。アハズヤ王の母アタリヤが息子の死を知り、立ち上がり、王位継承者全員を抹殺したのです（1節）。
彼女はたちまちユダの支配権を掌握しました。しかし、神は見守っておられ、アタリヤによるユダの王位簒奪という残忍な行為をついに終わらせられました。前王アハズヤの実子であるヨアシュは奇跡的に守られ、正当な王として即位しました（2-12節）。そして、アタリヤは罪のゆえに処刑れました（13-16節）。
アタリヤのように、サタンは人間に与えられた地球を支配する王座を奪いましたが、キリストは人類の救い主として現れ、サタンを打ち負かし、人類をご自身の右手に復帰させ、1000年間地球を統治させます！ PTL！
Devotion 2 of 2: 2 Kings 12
Jehoash (formerly Joash) was a good king in many ways. But later in life, when King Hazael of Syria conquered Gath and threatened to invade Jerusalem, Jehoash was afraid and gathered all the gold in the temple and the king’s house and gave it to Hazael. This succeeded in ending Hazael’s threats against Judah (v.17-18).
But Jehoash’s servants were angry at the king’s actions, and they formed a conspiracy and killed him (v.20)! We want to learn to rule with wisdom and courage and not be afraid of AC so that we compromise to save our lives! Lord, help us to have the courage of David when we face our Goliath, AC!

ヨアシュは多くの点で優れた王でした。しかし、後年、シリアの王ハザエルがガトを征服し、エルサレムへの侵攻を脅かした時、ヨアシュは恐れ、神殿と王宮の黄金をすべて集めてハザエルに与えました。これにより、ユダに対するハザエルの脅威は終結しました（17-18節）。
しかし、ヨアシュの家臣たちは王の行動に怒り、陰謀を企てて王を殺しました（20節）。私たちは知恵と勇気をもって統治することを学び、反キを恐れて、命を守るために妥協することがないようにしたいです。主よ、私たちのゴリアテ、反キに立ち向かう時、ダビデのような勇気を持つことができるよう助けてください。
