Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Kings 3
In this chapter God tells Solomon to ask for anything, and God would give it to him (v.5). In response, Solomon asks for an understanding heart to discern between good and evil so he could govern the people (v.9-12).
This is such a significant episode in the Bible because it applies so perfectly with world leaders and the church today! Like Solomon, all of us today need to seek the Lord for understanding to discern between good and evil so that political leaders will govern in the right way and so that believers will not be deceived by AC!
I believe God is training us to discern through the U.S. president. He is trying his best, but he doesn’t have understanding, and as a result, he is causing economic and political chaos in the US and the world! Let’s not be deceived by him or we will be deceived by AC! Rather, let’s pray for him to listen to good advice.
Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Kings 4
This chapter shows the fulfillment of God’s promises to Israel of making them His glorious kingdom among the nations as a testimony of His greatness (v.20, 29-34). I believe the 1st half of King David’s and King Solomon’s reigns (about 20 years each) added together would form the Golden Age of Israel.
Sadly, both reigns declined during their 2nd halves because of sin and idolatry so they lost the presence and blessings of God.
This is a warning to us living in the LD, that the LDR, the Golden Age of the Church, in which the promises of God are fulfilled in His people, will not necessarily continue automatically. We must continue to walk in obedience to God to keep His glorious presence with us!
