Devotion 1 of 2: Jer 39
This chapter describes the fall of Jerusalem. It was besieged for 1.5 years before capitulating (v.1-2). Judah was punished severely for her sins of idolatry, etc. Evil King Zedekiah saw his sons killed. Then he was blinded and taken captive to Babylon (v.6-7). The Jews who were still alive in the city were taken captives also (v.9).
But the poor were left in the land and given vineyards and fields (v.10). Also, Jeremiah was released from prison, and allowed to dwell among the people (v.14).
In the endtime, we can be sure that justice will prevail. Believers who compromise to AC to preserve their life will, in the end, be tormented in fire and brimstone (Rev 14:9-11). Christians who remain faithful to Christ will be martyred, but they will rise again and be raptured to a glorious eternal home in heaven (Rev 11:11-12)! Let’s be faithful to Jesus!
Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 11
This chapter concludes the 3 chapters that emphasize God’s sovereignty (election, predestination = chapters 9 and 11) and man’s free choice (free will = chapter 10). Although seemingly contradictory, both views are true and both are needed with the right perspective and balance!
Paul claims that God has not cast Israel away but has saved a remnant (v.1-5). And the purpose of Israel’s stumbling is to save the Gentiles (v.11). But once the Gentiles have been saved, then God will once more save the Jews (v.25-27)! This amazing plan of God shows His rich wisdom and knowledge (v.33-36)!
In the endtime, uncountable multitudes of Gentiles will be saved during T1, then raptured at TM; after that, the Jews will be saved at the end of T2! (T=Tribulation; T1=1st half of T; TM=Middle of T; T2=2nd half of T).
(T = 患難期、T1 = T の前半、TM = T の中間、T2 = T の後半)。
