Devotion 1 of 4: 2 Sam 17
In this chapter we see the story of Absalom’s 2 advisers: Ahithophel and Hushai. Ahithophel’s advice is good and, if followed, would bring victory over David (v.1-4).
Hushai’s advice is false (v.7-14). It is fake news made to help David. Normally this is bad and should not be followed.
But in this situation, Absalom is evil, and he’s trying to kill David, who is God’s chosen vessel. So, in this case, the good advice of Ahithophel is bad, and the false advice of Husai is good!
As we can see from this story, judging right and wrong can be complicated! We must also discern the motives and goals of people’s hearts!
In the end, Hushai succeeds in deceiving Absalom by his false report and saves David from disaster! In the endtime, when persecuted by AC, we, too, may need to give false information to save lives. Let’s not be afraid to do so!

Devotion 3 of 4: 2 Sam 18
This chapter is about Absalom’s death and 2 runners. The war between Absalom and David’s forces is fierce with many being killed (v.8). Absalom flees but his long hair is caught in tree branches, and he is left hanging (v.9). Joab hears about it and kills him (v.14).
Joab then sends a Cushite runner to give a report to David (v.21). But Ahimaaz also wants to go. At first, Joab says “No” because the king’s son is dead (v.20). But Ahimaaz insists, so Joab finally lets him go (v.23). He outruns the Cushite and reaches David 1st! He tells the king that they won (v.28)! But when David asks about Absalom, he says he saw a tumult but didn’t know what it was about (v.29)!
When the Cushite arrives, he tells David what he wants to know (v.32). Ahimaaz was excited by the battle and the commotion, and even though Joab had said that Absalom had died, he didn’t understand! He’s an example of believers who get excited about revival and love to attend meetings, but when asked about what revival and restoration, can’t explain because they don’t understand the Word. Let’s be like the Cushite!
