Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 124

This psalm teaches a powerful lesson for the endtime church! It teaches the importance of getting the Lord to be on our side! David repeats twice the phrase: “If it had not been (for) the Lord who was on our side…” (v.1, 2).
So, what would have been the consequences if the Lord was not on David’s side? In v.3 he says, “Men would have swallowed us alive!” and in v.4 he says, “The waters would have overwhelmed us!” and in v.5, “The swollen waters would have gone over our soul!”
But, because the Lord was on David’s side, David says in v.7, “Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!” Yes! David was able to escape from his fearsome enemy, King Saul! Twice Saul tried to spear him against the wall! And Saul tried numerous other ways of killing David, but God rescued David out of all of Saul’s traps!
We will have a dreadful enemy who will try to kill us, too! AC will hate the church and will attack and try to destroy us! But we can win, if we have the Lord on our side! So, let’s love Jesus, fellowship with Him daily, praise Him in all circumstances, and obey His Word. If we do so, He will be a friend who sticks closer to us than a brother!

Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 5

THU, 1/23B (2/2)
MARK 5: Free sharing!
There are 3 dynamic, miraculous stories in this chapter: Jesus delivering the man from a legion of evil spirits in v.1-20, Jesus healing a woman from a flow of blood in v.25-34 and Jesus raising Jairus’ daughter from the dead in v.21-24 andv.35-43.
I would like to look at the 3rd story from the point of view of Jairus’ daughter being restored to life and link it to 2 points about the church being restored to God’s presence, glory and power in the endtime.
Point 1: Jesus permitted no one except Peter, James and John into the house (v.37).
Application: I believe the 3 disciples represent the endtime Christians who will believe in God’s promises of revival and restoration of the church. We see this same point at the Mt. of Transfiguration (Mark 9:1-13). Jesus only took the same 3 disciples to that mountain. He told them that they would not die till they see the kingdom of God present with power. That’s what the restored church will be—the kingdom of God manifested with power!
So, what the 3 disciples saw was a prophetic picture of what would happen in the endtime. These 3 represent the Christians in the last days who will be praying and believing for revival, for the restoration of the church to full glory and power, and they will experience it! So, all Christians should want to be like these 3 disciples, close to Jesus and believing what He taught about His plan to reveal the kingdom of God with power in the endtime!
