I think 2 of the worst punishments that Israel received for disobedience were: 1) Eating the flesh of their children (v.29) and being scattered among the nations (v.33). Israel received these punishments when they were defeated and taken hostage by Assyria and Babylon and when they ate their children during the siege of Jerusalem by Babylon.
