Devotion 1 of 1: Judg 16
This is the last chapter in the life of Samson. It is a tragedy because it shows his foolishness in being deceived by Delilah to expose the secret of his strength. Samson had been deceived by a Philistine woman before, and yet he was deceived again! If we don’t learn from our previous mistakes, we’ll surely be deceived by the greatest liar of all—AC!
So we should realize that we must become spiritually mature in order to discern truth and falsehood correctly. If we do not, we won’t be able to distinguish deception from truth, or fake news from true information, and we will be deceived by AC in the endtime and maybe even compromise our faith and become part of the great falling away (2 Thes 2:1-4)!
Delilah deceived Samson by asking him the secret of his strength, and when he told a lie, she cried and said he didn’t love her and accused him of mocking her, day after day until his soul was vexed to death (v.15-16).
In today’s world, deceivers will repeat the same lie and false information over and over and over again. As one world leader said, “If you tell a lie over and over again, eventually people will believe you.” He has done that, and today millions of people believe whatever he says, even if it’s completely false or ridiculous.
Deception is a serious threat in the endtime. Let’s ask God to help us to be able to discern truth from lies.
JOHN 2: Free sharing!
This chapter contains the famous miracle of Jesus turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana. There are wonderful lessons in this story that apply to the LDR! Let’s take a look at two of them.
*The wine ran out (v.3). Wine can represent the blood of Christ, the Holy Spirit, joy, etc. Many people don’t have Jesus’ blood, or the Holy Spirit, or joy in their lives; it’s run out! We are called to do Jesus’ works (Jn 14:12). Let’s lead people to the cross and Jesus’ blood, to the baptism of the Holy Spirit, to the true joy and happiness that can only be found in Jesus!
*The way the need was solved was by the servants doing whatever Jesus told them to do (v.5). When we do what Jesus tells us to do, people will be healed, set free from evil spirits, and have all needs met! So let’s seek Jesus, hear His voice, and obey Him!
